Hello, I'm Shawn Rogan

Born and raised in Mahopac, where I graduated from high school, I attended SUNY Morrisville to study Natural Resources Conservation and later pursued my Bachelor's degree at West Virginia University.

Upon returning to Putnam County, I began my career with LMS Engineers, an Environmental Engineering company, where I managed a water quality improvement project on the Kensico Reservoir. In 1996, I started working for the Putnam County Department of Health. A few years later, I married Marianne Burdick, and together, we built our home in Patterson, where we have resided for 23 years. The Burdick family has a deep-rooted history in Patterson and operated one of the last working dairy farms in town.

Over two decades ago, I started contributing to Patterson by joining the Planning Board. I have always enjoyed collaborative work on projects aimed at striking a balance between development and the preservation of our environment and the rural character of our community—a key reason why so many people have chosen to make Patterson their home.

After serving 13 years on the Planning Board, I decided to seek a seat on the Town Board, where I am currently in my ninth year of service. Throughout these years, I've been blessed to work with some incredible people, all while striving to keep Patterson a beautiful place to live. In 2019, I teamed up with a great team of dedicated volunteers to begin construction of the Patterson Boardwalk project. This Boardwalk, which is handicapped-accessible, allows visitors to our Environmental Park to connect with nature, observe diverse wildlife, and cultivate an appreciation for one of Patterson's most valuable natural resources.

My career in the Putnam County Health Department now spans 27 years, and I currently hold the position of Director of Environmental Health Services. In this role, I am responsible for managing a team of more than twenty professionals, with a focus on Public Health Protection, Engineering, and Drinking Water. My primary goal is to improve and protect the health of our community.

My passion for serving our residents has been lifelong. I firmly believe in approaching my work in a straightforward, common-sense manner that treats all individuals with respect, regardless of differing viewpoints. I think that Patterson is an amazing place to live and raise a family. With your help and support, I hope to continue serving as your Patterson Councilman.
