PATTERSON FARMERS MARKETS
Patterson is not only a great place to buy plants and trees for your gardens but a great place to purchase fresh produce and assorted related items made and grown locally. You cannot get fresher than that. During the growing season which is usually from late May thru October we have three locations where you can visit our local farm markets in Town. Weather is always a factor so try to contact these folks if you have any questions.
Patterson Farmers Market (Route 311) OPENING JUNE 13
Hans Petersen, son of Eric Petersen at Petersen’s Patterson Nursery, started the Farmers Market next to the Patterson Library along Route 311 in 2022. It has been growing ever since and every Friday between 3pm and 7pm, you can visit his “Petersen’s Plants and Fresh Veggies” table along with a number of friendly merchants and local produce folks who offer a wide variety of eats and handmade items. The market will feature “Hooked Events” (845-329-0565) a local caterer that prepares onsite take-home dishes specializing in fresh seafoods like lobster rolls and shrimp. For your favorite dog, “The Farmers Dog”, (845-878-3431) offers a wide variety of fresh doggy treats made here in Patterson. Local Patterson resident, John Bradley (“Patient Gardner”), grows his own organic herbs and veggies and offers new items each week as the season progresses. “Lobster Hill Farm”, A Brewster/Patterson small farm owned by Jessica Jarrett offers fresh eggs, dairy products, pork, goat milk and soaps. “Stone Vibes III” (203-731-0880), presents crafted jewelry, organic sunscreens and natural wellness items. “Venus and I” (845-831-8042), offers homemade soy wax candles, perfumes, and oils. Patterson resident and herbalist, Vinetta Abele makes her own herbal teas, lotions, and oils offered at her table, and you can enjoy her fine baking with a fresh cup of coffee brewed onsite at the “Pawling Coffee Roaster”(845-600-0190) table just a few yards away. More vendors will be signing up prior to the June 13 opening.
If you have questions or would like to participate in this market, please contact Hans Petersen at 845-674-7485.
Farm Market at the Patterson Community Church (1062 Route 311, in center of the Hamlet)
This local farm produce supports both our local shoppers and benefits those in need. The market is open Saturdays from 9am to 1pm late May thru October as long as veggies are growing. Depending upon the week, herbs, veggies and other garden produce will be featured. Pastor Dave (845-878-3961) will be very happy to see you.
Tommy Tomato Farm Stand at the Putnam Lake VFW ( 4 Fairfield Drive)
Tom Hamed III, has been selling fresh produce from various Connecticut farms for several years now at the VFW parking lot and established a reputation for hand picking fresh produce for his customers who text in their orders in advance (203-826-4649), or you can just show up between 11am and 7pm Fridays thru Sundays late May to Halloween (and sometimes up to Thanksgiving) and see what he’s picked.
