A Word from Gwen Dougherty

Gwen is an innovative and compassionate business leader with over 30 years of experience in
supply chain, merchandising, and general management. She’s known for bringing people
together, inspiring teams through change, and creating collaborative environments where
everyone feels valued and accountable. A subject matter expert in group purchasing
organizations (GPOs) and supply chain cost efficiency, Gwen blends strategic insight with
empathetic leadership, helping organizations and people grow together.
Her passion for smart, practical solutions led her to create Florea Procurement Solutions, a
small business that helped operators save money on the supplies they use every day. Before
that, as Executive Vice President at Performance Foodservice (Chicago), Gwen led more than
200 employees across procurement and operations, driving growth through safety, innovation
and teamwork. She also served as Senior Vice President at Entegra Corporation, managing the
team responsible for a $4 billion client portfolio across North America, and held leadership
roles at Brookdale Senior Living and US Foods, where she oversaw the company’s $2 billion
beef category.
Raised in Iowa as the second of four kids, Gwen’s parents instilled the importance of respect for
others, listening, and hard work. She was a papergirl, worked farm field jobs and in a bicycle
shop. A former competitive cyclist and resident athlete at the Olympic Training Center, she’s
always believed in setting goals and seeing them through. She earned her Bachelor of Science in
Dietetics and Human Nutrition from Iowa State University, graduating with honors, and began
her career as a Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist — combining her love of food, health, and
helping others.
Today, Gwen channels that same passion into her community. She volunteers with Patterson
Community Kitchen and Second Chance Foods in Brewster to fight food insecurity. After raising
her two children, Abby and Freeman, as a single mom for ten years, she married her best friend
Keith in 2017. She is the proud stepmother of Brett and Mia. Gwen and Keith feel privileged to
call Patterson home and are grateful to be close to Keith’s family and surrounded by nature.
A last word about why I’m running
I’ve been so lucky to have had an amazing career, raised my family, and to be married to my
best friend. Now, it’s time to give back and to serve. I love living in Patterson. Over the past few
months, I’ve heard from so many residents who feel the same way — people who love
Patterson, but also see its untapped potential.
I’m running because Patterson deserves leadership that listens, puts residents first, and can
work cooperatively with fellow town councilmen and women to get things done. Our town has
incredible promise, but it needs a renewed sense of urgency and collaboration — and a
commitment to making meaningful progress that improves residents’ everyday lives. People
deserve transparency, whether it’s about projects, our infrastructure, and our long-term plans
for the town’s future.
Through this campaign, one thing has become clear: political party labels don’t matter nearly as
much as ideas and results. No matter their affiliation, Patterson residents that I spoke with
want the same things — to see Front Street and Putnam Lake’s business corridors come alive as
thriving community spaces, to care for and protect our lakes, The Great Swamp and our open
spaces, and to have collaborative leaders who can work together, follow through and deliver.
I’m running for Patterson Town Council because I know my business experience, creative
problem solving, collaborative leadership style, and get-it-done approach can help turn
Patterson’s potential into reality. I think the past years’ performances have demonstrated that
the incumbents are not up to the challenge of working as a team to move Patterson forward.
Just as I’ve done my whole career, I will put the needs of the people and community first. I am
excited to work in partnership with the remaining town board members and supervisor to
deliver results that are needed to bring about the Patterson we all know is possible.
